Key Staff
Staff members of the Center for Social Innovation are an extraordinary group of professionals with both research and hands-on clinical experience in the field. The leadership team includes six senior colleagues:
Ellen Bassuk, M.D. is Managing Director of the Center for Social Innovation and President of The National Center on Family Homelessness. Committed to ending the tragedy of families living homeless in America, Ellen has over thirty years of experience as a clinical researcher, board certified psychiatrist, and recognized thought leader and advocate for recognizing the service as well as housing needs of homeless populations.

Jeff Olivet has been working on issues of homelessness, poverty, and HIV since the early 1990s—as an outreach worker, case manager, housing director, activist, writer, lecturer, and trainer. Jeff serves as Director of Training at the Center for Social Innovation. Additionally, Jeff has worked with public hospitals and clinics around the country to improve health care access for patients who are poor and underserved, and has been involved with international health work in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria.

Laura Gillis, RN, MS the Director of our Homelessness Resource Center Project and has over 25 years of experience working in community health. Laura is a superb manager and effective leader with the ability to engage key stakeholders and create partnerships within local and national provider communities. Laura has expertise in planning, implementing and evaluating health and human service programs that meet community and client needs.

Livia Davis, MSW, CSWM, Director of our Services in Supportive Housing project, has over fifteen years of experience developing and operating programs to address homelessness, receiving national attention for her work. Livia also has extensive experience in training and public speaking and is a certified life mentor. A native of Denmark, Livia has been involved in international efforts to address root causes of homelessness and to ensure consumer involvement in provision of services.

Sarah Paige Fuller, MSW is the Director of the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) National Technical Assistance Center. She has twenty years of experience in the fields of mental health, homeless, and housing services and worked in local service programs for 16 years, providing mental health, homeless outreach, housing, and shelter services. She brings to her work ten years as a street outreach worker for the PATH program and subsequent experience in program administration and the provision of technical assistance at state and federal levels.

Joan Mullen is an experienced research manager under contract with the Center to provide strategic planning and business management support. Formerly a Group Vice President with Abt Associates, Joan led the firm’s Domestic Public Policy Group, a $100 million enterprise. Throughout her tenure at Abt and her current position as a Managing Partner of Gryphon Scientific, she has published on issues related to social program operations and evaluation.
