The Center for Social Innovation is a diverse group of social scientists, educators, consumers, and clinicians with knowledge of the needs of our nation’s most vulnerable populations, and the providers and systems of care that serve them.

At the juncture of extreme poverty and homelessness, people struggle to hold their lives together in the face of mental illness, substance use, isolation, and trauma. This is where we work. We use science and technology to create and share new solutions to the most vexing human problems.

Through rigorous research, we learn which services and supports each person requires to regain stability and return to life in the community. We identify what people need to maintain their independence and dignity.

We bring this knowledge to providers with tools and training that take advantage of new technologies and learning techniques. We help human service organizations define and carry out their missions, and optimize the skills of their workforces to meet the challenges ahead.

We are transforming human services for people with the greatest need.
